All, I have a customer requirement for a PCB that has rounded corners with a radius of 0.031". Present brd house says this cannot be met. Any comments?

We think maybe 50 thou would be a more approachable corner radius. Why does your customer want to have radiused corners?

All, Thnx for the replies! The brd thickness is 0.062", hence no confusion there. Have no idea why customer's engineer specd in the 31 thou radius. Asked them but have no definitive answer as yet.

0.031" radius is a diameter of 0.062" which is very tight (small) for a rounded corner. I would tend to agree with the board house that is can not be done. 0.031" is a standard thickness of PCB. I think it is very possible that your customer swapp

This is an OUTSIDE corner spec or an inside corner spec? If outside, I don't see why it is a problem, but will require programming the router or making a template (if an "old school" shop.) Yes, if an inside corner, then it requires a small router

Just thought I'd post and let you all know, SMT Research helped me identify the issue here. Turns out it's the outer moveable rail on the XY table. The clamp bracket brakes were in bad shape, and the outer rail was slipping.

Ashok Dhawan, an old friend of SMTnet, says: Formula for counting components on SMT tape & reels [spiral belt]: Length = Number of turns * 1/2 * 22/7 * ( dia outer + dia inner), where ... Number of turns = ( dia outer - dia inner) / thickness of

They define outer tray dimension and thickness. The array is specific to the component type.
