How old is old?

Electronics Forum | Mon Sep 23 11:53:27 EDT 2002 | dougt

Where to end the thread........how about when the originator says thanks for the help, I have all the info I'm really interested in so don't write anymore. The thread, Where do I start?, is a good example. The originator has signaled that it's over

old threads and questionable motives

I agree with Sr. Tech. If a product is good, no excusues that's good, but if a product is said to walk on water and it does not, I pretend that people having the bad experience to report it over here so that one can evaluate the problem. I say EVALUA

Poor reflow over gold plating

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 28 18:20:49 EDT 2005 | russ

Matt, have you run a profile on this board? Just because it's .062" doesn't mean that any old .062" profile will work. We have .062" thick boards that almost nil for copper and other are utilizing 2 oz. layers internally. They require quite diffe

Wave solder flow over back plate

Electronics Forum | Fri Feb 22 13:19:54 EST 2013 | caurbach

Our new Soltec Delta 3 has this feature (they call it mainwave pushup) where you can add up to 60 rpm to the pump after the leading edge passes over the wave. Unfortunately, our old Delta Wave doesn't have this feature. Ideally we'd like to set it

I don't have any experinence with this, but my concern is that you are limiting the amount of contamination your pot can absorb before you ever run a board through. What I mean is that even if you are able to drain all but about a kg of the old sold

| Hi folks, | | I am looking for inputs on a long-standing problem encountered in our shop: Bottom-side parts (passives) falling off in the Wave...where the only remnants of the part is a flattened glue dot of proper diameter and volume, and somet

SMT Advantages over Thourgh Hole in Chart format

Electronics Forum | Thu May 24 16:51:04 EDT 2001 | Robert Culpepper

Does anyone have any sort of Chart comparisons for the advantages of SMT over Through Hole? I realize this is old material and for that reason I believe it's now hard to come by (in presentation format). I know someone trying to convince a mature ent

SMT device shelf Life

Does anyone have a listing of recommended usage requirements on SMT components. Can you use SMT resistors which are over 3 years old for example ? Can you use ICs which are not known to be moisture sensitive but which are over 5 years old.
