What really happens during the oxidisation process during reflow soldering? Where does the oxide goes...mix with flux etc...Is there a tin-oxide and lead oxide during the process? I believe that during wave soldering the oxides become dross...but wha

As Rohs parts with lead free solders dont wet as well your operator may be mistaking this for oxidisation. there is also the posibility that the parts are manufactured with HMP solder (92.5% lead) also rosh complient but the solder dose oxidise.

The G in ENIG is gold. It does not oxidise. Either you are thinking of OSP or your board shop is providing defective boards if your boards show oxidation. It would be the nickel that is oxidising but should be totally covered by the gold. Is there

Cristiano, Are your oxidised components now all on boards ? How many and how many terminations ? If you have any that are still to be used, maybe you can get the supplier / customer to replace them, unless of course they are well old. If you have

As I thought..... This is probably why most journals and standards I have studied hold shy of even attempting to predict shelf life. They certainly hold off of any predictions when based on accelerated life testing too. The component lead is a cop

HI I am currently having a wafer which is stud bumped (Au), I am printing conductive adhesives (with silver fillers) on the pads , and by thermocompression bonding, I am establishing the connnection between. But right now the problem is the silver

Hi Peter, are you talking about storage times after opening sealed packaging and the effects on solderability due to oxidisation/moisture sensitivity? Cheers, Rob

gold, one of the stablest elements on the periodic table oxidising. Are you sure, and why would you want to reduce the vision fail rate on a part that is clearly shockingly poor?
