We 'bend and clip' with good old fashioned needle nose pliers and side cutters. A typical size for a run would be 20-30 boards. Many of our designs are over a decade old and are fully TSO'd (FAA standard) and we can't change anything in the design.

We recently upgraded our SMT placement equipment and are quite happy with them. One of our old SMT machines however had a glue head attached to it and we are now in the market for a standalone glue station. Our SMT placement rate is roughly 12k CPH

no, we can't go to screening as the majority of the products being glued are already stuffed with through-hole that has been bent and clipped. (boards weren't laid out in a fashion that allows for double sided SMT then through hole insertion)
