I'm thinking vibe feeder as well. I saw this alot on older machines (Quad IVC) vibe was set too high making parts jump around. If it is a vibe feeded, look for spillage behind the feeder base.

Definitely feeder related - we get it all the time on those package parts. If you can, slow the tact of the feeder advance a bit (if it's on T&R). We also don't catch it at placement, but at pre-reflow visual or AOI.

Crishan, You must be seeing an incredible amount of Attrition on this component if this is the case. You should most definitely be able to put in a Pick-up offset either at the machine or in the part data. aj

Is it possible to advance the feeder at shorter intervals? So every time the part is picked the feeder moves 2 times shorter movements instead of one long move? Just a thought.

Hi All, Can anyone tell me if it's possible to change just the ratchet wheel on a Fuji 8x4 feeder to make it 8x2 so we can run 0402 chips, or would we need to change other parts in the feeders as well?

The machine is a CP-6. Thanks to all for the replies. We may be able to specify the packaging for the parts, but being a consigned kit, it depends on if our customer has already ordered them or not.

That Fuji won't sell the reel by itself is difficult to believe. Is there a part number assigned to the reel? If so...they will sell it.

Why not check the parts lists for both the 8x2 & the 8x4 feeders ?. This should tell you for sure.

I am not sure that the numbers I posted earlier were 100% correct. That is why I removed that part. If you are interested in exact pricing, call Mydata. I was just surprised that when you break a shaft, the entire head needs replaced.
