I'm having problems feeding these to the pick and place. As the tape peels off the pocket the part sticks to the tape rather than remaining in the pocket. Machine is QUAD QSV. We've tried all generations of feeders we have available. Any advice is

These random shorts, are they most prevailent on the edges, corners, or truly all over the place. It almost sounds like package warp/delamination or something of that nature. Are you baking parts per MSL requirements?

Pete is correct. Lead from the "Leaded" parts will leach into the solder pot and eventually the Pot will become contaminated with unacceptable levels of lead. At that point the entire pot will have to be emptied and cleaned. NOT a fun thing to do!!

We are experiencing fracture problems with 0805 X7R capacitors. The capacitors seem to fail in tension; during hot-air rework they come apart in two pieces with the fracture near the metallization end. Only X7R SMT components are affected, C0G and Y

The end of support of the 5DX is only for the Series IIL system. The series 3 and Series 5000 are still supported. The support included Technical support and parts support.

GEB, The parts that are tombstoning have all ready been through reflow once with no problems, so I assume the paste and the positioning was correct the first time, since they did not tombstone through the first reflow. This is very strange.

How about muffin fans.....30 or so dollars for a sleeved bearing fan (from vitronics)....when you can go to rodale and get the fans for around 15 or so dollars and you get the better ball bearing fans (that should have been used in the first place).
