Thoughts on having AOI catch components that are supposed to be non populated???

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 21 09:53:00 EST 2013 | Mr_Bo_Jangles

Has anyone used their AOI to try to catch components that may be inadvertently placed in a location it shouldn't be? Every once in a while our equipment may drop a part onto a PCB and that part will adhere to pad. So the question has been brought u

Hello all, I read about Steve's headache a few articles back and I'm really interested by his tip. However, I'm still wondering why square apertures release solder paste better than round ones. For the same volume of paste, the surface area of th

| | | We are having a process related problem with pullup resistors on a controller card which has a I960 micro-processor. | | | The controller monitors signal inputs and it's own resources then blinks a LED to indicate its working. The problem is th

Do you mean that your machine is placing the part backwards? Or the part is reversed internally? Like the Cathode mark is painted wrong?

If it was only 1 or 2 components on a reel that were backwards, I would lean more likely the cause just being the component was wrong direction in Tape from factory. Not much you can do from a Pick & Place perspective, generally.. Most machines use

As Evtimov mentioned, it will be dependent on package. It will also be dependent on the specifics of your machines so there is no universal "good" value. You will need to experiment to find the best values for your equipment and components. I would
