elfego, i used to wwork at a place with the following line layout: * Loader * MPM Hi-E * Triscan Solder Inspection Machine (affectionately called the "Trashcan" by the technicians ;-) * 2 Phillips FCM fast chip mounters * 1 Phillips Topaz "hybrid" (

Incomplete reflow

Found the issue. The footprint is incorrect. The inductor completely shields the paste from heat. Slid the inductor on the pad to expose the pad and paste, and perfect solder joint. This part was a last minute design change with a larger body.

Vibrating reflow

The magnetic thing from the sot23 thread made me think of somthing from the past. Does anyone have any experience with vibrating boards during reflow? I know for a fact that if you vibrate a board during reflow it will alow the parts to "float" and

Not sure it's always a great route as the smaller ovens are going to struggle to get a perfect profile for a consistent result, especially on bigger boards with higher layer counts and mixed technology. You may want to take a quick look at a batch va

We have been using a Heller 1707EXL (7 zones + 1 cooldown zone) for lead free (ROHS) soldering since 2007 with good results. I wouldn't go any lower than 7 heat zones though. If I may brag a bit....The IPC-7095 revision C standard was released a fe

Its not the max temperature that is the issue, its how much energy the oven is capable of transferring to the PCB inside the 4-6 minute window of a typical profile. In a conveyor oven this is achieved by having zones of different temperatures, but th
