The smallest finished hole available for 2 layer board is .020”. The smallest finished hole available for 4+ layer board is .014”. All holes are round and drilled through from top to bottom layer of board. No blind or buried vias. For holes = .15

We are going to hand place through hole connectors by screening them top side in a double sided reflow board. I saw this done before sucessfully on a daily basis but is there anyone with a paper or specs as to what aperture size, any special pad cons

Bill, We do solderpaste reflow on through-hole here every day on plated-thru-holes. We do it on connectors only. It is a reliable process. We use no special profile. The stencil apertures must be modified for this process. Check out the IPC-7525 "St

I discovered that we have some gold plated (30 mico in.) through hole connectors which were Paste In Hole soldered (60 sec at reflow) on a HASL PCB. Do we have an embrittlement reliability issue? The calculated volume % of gold in the joints is about

It's a terrible idea. Through holes should be drilled in the exact center of a pad +/-. Have the two holes go out back and settle this. Whichever hole returns, that hole get to keep the pad. The other hole needs to get its own pad. End of story. Th

I'm attempting to develop paste in hole process so that I can reflow a few plated through hole components on a mixed tech board. Tried various pastes, profiles and stencil thicknesses. Would appreciate any insights and/or pointers anyone can share on

If by the Powers Ta Be (customer/designer), you can't change the PCB design, negotiate for the PCB fab house, to block the via holes with their (green?) solder mask some customers/designers want to have via holes to be present in the PCB pad, due to
