Hi Greg, Is anyone logging the errors at QC/touch up stage so they can feed them straight back to SMT and fix them? (i.e. skipped components, poor paste coverage etc) Obviously the faster you spot an error the cheaper it will be for you. Cheers,

It appears that the reflow profile was incorrect or the paste was in bad shape on these boards from what I can see. I personally have never seen a board finish cause this symptom.

I am not an expert but just for my understanding: - solder paste used ? NC ? other ? - reflow in Air or N2 ? - temp ramp up before soack (C/second) ? Tnks GS

I've tested boards with SN100C HAL finish, and wetting to the PCB finish was poor at best, using a no clean SAC305 paste.

Dear Grant, Thank you for the reply. It is really a valid reason and I did check for it but nothing turned out that way. Can you think of some other reasons if the process parameters are the same used earlier when there was no problem at all. Regard

Take a look at the boards, too. Could the HASL be different (in particular a domed or convex cross section) than what you're used to seeing? Is your printer actually working properly?

Chunkie Why doesn't your company wash those little blue smirf coats for the people? Requiring employees to wash smocks is very poor practice, because the company looses control over the wash process, materials, or schedule. Do you test the smocks

did you look at the pad vs the stencil design? are you putting down enough solder paste on the pads? what are your reduction ratios for these packages?

Hi, We have just started running this Koki paste and it's working really well. Funny, the joints are a lot more shiny than I expected. Grant
