Depanel Scraps?

Electronics Forum | Wed Jan 27 15:14:14 EST 2021 | stephendo

Ask your PCB suppliers what they do with their scrap FR4. Especially if any are local to you. I predict that you will not be happy with their answer.

QSP2 Monitoring

My company is very insistant on making our actual production times match the predicted. Perfectly reasonable.... However, the problem is that one operator can beat the predicted rate and another can blow it away 10-fold. I know the problem is tha

From our notes ... An intense evaluation was completed in 1992 that involved testing of three board types [6 layer FR4, 6 layer ceramic copper thick film, and a 4 layer copper-invar-copper board] by the Navy Surface Warfare Center, Crane, IN. [Obvio

Profiling board

Electronics Forum | Thu May 23 14:35:40 EDT 2002 | pjc

There are instruments from ECD, KIC and Datapaq that are used in addition to classic profiling for oven thermal management and they also have some very efficient prediction software for profiling. I am not an advocate of common profiles. Most boards

Thermal cycling

I agree with Dave 100%, ATC will expose the board and components weaknesses and potential design problems and/or the need for conformal coating. The life span can only be predicted and/or extended by well-documented field failure analyses history and

5 zone ovens

Dave, For lead free, I've always left the ramp part the same and just spike higher in the reflow zone. I've also slowed things down a bit (5" per sec. slower)....without using prediction software, try, say... Z4 200 & Z5 260.

Son of RoHS...

I think several of us have predicted this. Once the boys at RoHS get things rolling they have nothing to do. So, why not look into bigger and better things? I like their fancy buzz name too "REACH". I guess it's an oxymoron. Didja know large amo

And I might suggest AOI at post print and post place to hone your process before even considering post reflow AOI. Post reflow AOI alone is iffy and an absolute chore to keep up with. But monitoring paste and placement are very easy. Establish a sta

Hey Basam, What sort of production do you have and what size boards, changeovers etc. The politics is irrelevant to the best machine for your production environment? Mydata's are not the only option and the Used market is full of good alternatives,
