Been awhile.... We are in the process of determining where are gaps are for compliance to J-STD-001E and I have a question for those in the know. This section of the standard says the following: ----------- Electronic/mechanical components (includi

We have had some success in void reduction with LGA by pre-tinning or "bumping" the devices before placement. The extra solder seems to allow a slightly higher standoff, and allows better outgassing, is my guess. A lot more labor , but the results

We have recently received some pre-tinned "flat lead packages" and the question I have relates to the definition of solder touching the component body of the part. Typically when I have gold lead parts tinned there is a gold gap between the tinned po

| | We have some SMT components with gold plated leads. They're actually LCC led packages. A good solder alloy to use would be Indium / Lead to reduce tin dissolution into the gold and avoid the resultant brittle intermetallic compound. However, a re

The circle is not a "good" fiducial. The gradually change in contrast of a circle versus a cross makes it difficult to find the center of the fiducial. By pre-tinning the fiducials there will be a convex mirror surface distorting the edges even more.

| I am looking for information regarding post wave soldering of stranded wires into a circuit board using OA core wire solder. We do a final pass thru the cleaner after the hand soldering but I'm concerned about any OA flux residue that may have wic

| Is it just me, or does anybody else have problems with open connections on small surface mount headers and connectors? I am talking about small 20 to 40 pin devices, 25 to 50 mil pitch. We put these things on the board, the feet look like they ar

How well should the fiducial be centered in the teach mode? Consider that you see the fiducial with probably 40 times magnification on the monitor. If you see the cross-hair a bit off center, then this is most likely just by a few hundreds of a milli

I do not mean big, heavy transformers but rather small ferrite core transformers, with ferrites in the range of EF16 .. EF40. The weight of the lead and its percentage of the total weight is not the issue here. We simply do not want lead-containing t

What type of flux are you using today? - Obviously you have already outlined the difference in the parent materials and parent material preparation, so using the same program/profile will not work; the characteristics are different. Try increasing p
