When turned on: Components are recognized by the recognition camera at the same angle it is is placed on the PCB. this improves placement accuracy by reducing the chance of the component twisting on the nozzle when the head rotates before placement.

Not familiar with Philips machines but have had similar problem: If Philips uses fiber optics and halogen bulbs for lighting in the vision system, try installing a new bulb.
