Sorry for the miss-understanding - there are at least 2 types of MSD cards - reversible & non reversible. We use the non-reversible type. Once exposed they record the max humidity through a one way chemical reaction.

Has anyone tracked solder (Paste and or Bar) over the last 5 years. My company would like to see what the trend was, but we didn't keep records since we purchase from distributors.

Would you adam & eve it? the 3 stooges all on one thread. For the record the Texas Instruments Speak & Spell that I had as a small child had better software than our Soltec. (Even if it did spell Colour as Color)

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I will try baking and see what develops. For the record the parts are stored in nitrogen atmos. under 5% RH. Doesnt mean they werent overexposed when they got here however... JD

Cooking bags. The ones for "large bird game" work very well. I believ I got them from Hormel. They are not ESD approved, but your thermal recorder should come out dry and well browned.

Thanks fellas. (That was quick!) It's tough to find anything with collective data, I mean from the industry, as far as "What are you using now?" kind of thing. For the record, all we've used here since the beginning is SAC 305.

1 Print paste on a bare board or laminate. 2 Place components in the paste. 3 Gently invert and support the board above a table. 4 At one hour intervals, record the number of components that have fallen from the board.

James, Smart thinking!! Thats what Swatch and probably Sony does. And to set the record straight Japan doesnt have a lead ban in solders only a recycling program similar to the European WEEE

Huss, Great conclusion to what I believe to be a record thread (in hits and responses). Some people just have too much time on their hands.

Every problem faced with (all) lead free alloys can be solved with 2 words add lead I'll keep it short don't want to sound like a broken record.
