You're correct. This design will have a record amount of 0402 rework for tombstoning and misalignments. Suggest that the pads on each end of all components be the same size in order to balance wetting forces during reflow.

Years ago we had a vapor phase with a glass top. Wish I'd had a phone cam to record some of those moments. Very cool to watch those perfect, shiny leaded fillets form in the cloud of Fluorinert vapor.

A recording accelerometer is about the only thing I can think of. Unless you can find an insulative container (like for a profiler) you'd just have to run it through a cold oven.
