We're aware of no industy acceptance standard for max moisture content of a board. For more on moisture levels, get a copy of: "Removing Moisture from Electronic Components and Assemblies", CS Leech, Jr, Circuits Assembly, May 1994. The article disc

Hello All, My question is in regards to repackaging moisture sensitive components. I have researched the archives and found alot of valuable information. We currently have a heat sealing machine but do not have the capability of evacuating the bag pr

Baking before assembly does nothing good. It: * Increases costs. * Adds steps to the process and makes scheduling more cumbersome. * Increases the amount corrosion on solderable surfaces. We used to bake to remove the moisture from boards that caus

We are deeply involved with this question because we have developed a much faster way to remove moisture from PCB's. PCB's absorb varying amounts of moisture at differing rates. The rate is influenced by the laminate type board configuration , loca

Again, that is for packaging, rather than moisture removal or storage. Those guidlines are for several reasons, preventing low pressure outgassing or disassociation of the dessicants, damage to parts or wafer tray due to forces on the evacuated pack

When leaving a job set up on pick and place machines, it is important to return any moisture sensitive devices on reels to a dry cabinet overnight to reduce the exposure time. What are some ways to identify which reels need removed? A sticker placed

No, we don't have nitro. We may go that way if we can't find decent data from anyone other than the food industry on vacuum drying. I'm just more comfortable with low water/O2 content by removal rather than displacement.

This links to a NPL presentation on moisture removal from PCB http://www.npl.co.uk/upload/pdf/20140318_effect_baking.pdf Consider: * Focusing on preventing moisture contamination of boards, rather than removing moisture * There will be no standard

I don't believe there should be any issues with the HASL finish. The issue is how long on the shelf and is a bake out required to remove moisture from PCB, as in any FR4 PCB's that may have had time to absorb moisture.
