MSL 1 is unlimited factory floor time before reflow. I have spools that are 10+ years old and haven't encountered any issues using those parts. It goes without saying those parts are not exactly used in volume so its not a massive sample but that is

| | | I am in the process of picking a new resistor network for one of our new board. Since we are new to SMT i would like to get some opinions on networks. Currently we use one molded gullwing type network on our boards with no problems. Other than

Can anybody gimme some input on the problem I faced currently on 0402 Chip Resistor. At pre-reflow the component are placed nicely but at post reflow, we found the Resistor stands sideway ( both termination, the pad and componant are in contact, fun

The majority of SMT resistors use the following notation. 10 X eg 153 represents 1k5 resistor The third digit in the sequence denotes the number of zeros to add after the first two digits giving the value in ohms. Many Caps will follow the same nota

We received some parts from our stores room with out a part number. We have 2 to choose from one being a 5% and one being a .1%. Does the color of the resistor mean anything? Just need some help on this. Thanks.

The color does mean something, If you know the manufacturer their spec sheet will tell you. The three and 4 digit only applies to larger resistors, There are 1% 0603 that have only 3 digits. You may want to just call them all 5%. Russ

Thanx for your valuable feedback,Eric. Do you mind sharing with me the pad size change that you have made. I mean from what size to what size. I'm measuring mine now...cheers

The size i had changed from 55 x 20 mils to 42 x 20 mils. The component size i have is 40 x 20 mils ( 1mm x 0.5mm ).

3 digits usually means 5% i.e. 103 = 10K 5% 4 digits means 1% i.e. 1002 = 10K 1% Otherwise you will have to use Dave's method.
