IC packaging Specs

Electronics Forum | Sat Feb 28 14:00:18 EST 1998 | Gary Simbulan

I have run across reference to EIA-481 for specifications on Tape And Reel components for automatic placement and am looking for something similar that specifies standards or dimensions for IC Tubes or sticks. I am trying to make the vibatory feeder

Tombstone on melf resistor

That is one big melf!!! I do not even find this package size in any of my data bases. the largest i have ever dealt with is only .230 in. long. This one is .415 in. long? I would need to know the termination sizes also and then we can figure a pad

chip components (i.e. inductor, capacitor & resistor) more than 2 years from packaging can still be used??

Electronics Forum | Fri May 23 19:59:26 EDT 2014 | jhaye

hi everyone, I just got some question with regards to the life span of components from the date it was packed from supplier. Does the parts more than 2 years from the date it was process by supplier: 1. Can it still be used in PCBA?? 2. will it not

Genny, you may want to look at the brds you will be running and identify the various packages. I do not know what a standard package is. Most chip resistor and capacitors, 0402, 0603, 1206, 1210's are on 8mm feeders, but ic's vary quite a bit. Also r

Contamination under chip resistor array

There is no standard as such. It's easy to see why. It's too complicated and has such a small payoff. Standoff is comprised of: * Package height * Solder thickness between the pad and the component lead * Delta of pad thickness and solder mask For p

Thanks Dave, I will be sticking with Manufacturing Engineering. These are good guidelines but what is standard clearance for various packages? This is a dimension we usually seek by eye, whether we will have a problem or not. We use straight DI -

Contamination under chip resistor array

We have experienced contamination under flat chip arrays. The lab report is still open but it appears to be dendrite growth. We have been trouble-shooting our process and cleaning equipment. My question is are there any specific design or best p

resistor networks- leadless vs. gull wing

I am in the process of picking a new resistor network for one of our new board. Since we are new to SMT i would like to get some opinions on networks. Currently we use one molded gullwing type network on our boards with no problems. Other than space
