Since I didn't see it mentioned - Are you specifying a laminate that is considered compatible with a RoHS process? I don't mean just a high Tg but a high Td (decomposition) and CTE material such as Isola 410, FR408 etc.

Td - is the degradation temperature for a laminate (board), while Tg - is glass transition one. There is one more (even more important) - delta Tg. They characterize the quality of the laminate material. Regards, Vlad www.sentec.ca

Hi all, hope everyonein the forum id doing fine and working diligently toward RoHS capability. One of my customers have asked me (my company) to recommend a lead-free laminate. us being a CEM, have no idea of design variables (df, dk etc., (process v

Forgot to ask earlier - what is the TG rating for your laminate? If not selected already, use a high TG rating like TG155 or TG170 laminates for the ROHS temps. Never saw swollen PCBAs with such rated PCBs to date.

Tg is just a way to say when the board goes limp... or a quick way to rank laminates... who cares. For lead free you want to look at Td, Decomposition Temperatures. ( Temp at which the material weight changes by 5% )

Hi MGL, Couple things to ask, have the boards recently been changed to Rohs builds? STD FR4 to High TD Laminate. Check the stack-up the board houses are using. Just about all Rohs laminate has Resin starvation issues when used in single ply co

Hi, I authored the presentation so I may be able to help you out with your Q's. 1. IPC is in draft stage for 4 new material specs. These are in the presentation. I would focus on IPC 4101/ 121 and /124. Match your current Tg requirement to the T

Hi Wayne, I am just curious what material is being called out. Are you just specing FR4 or are you calling out a particular IPC 4101 / Some recommended laminates designed for Lead free assembly are: Isola 370HR Nelco 4000-11 or 4000-29 Iteq IT15

Hello, I suggest you visit the website http://www.analysispcb.com, where I found these information : PARAMETERS FOR DOUBLE “V” SCORING LEAD FREE LAMINATES Typ WEB Thickness, 1.6mm : 0.38mm (+.15/-0) "...Tg is not a good indicator of a materials’

Thanks Mark and Dave. It sounds like our board design and problem areas are similar to yours, Mark. We talked with our customer about the grid pattern but I'm not sure where we are at with that. In reference to the Tg/Td thread, the material is a
