Assuming you are talking about solderable surfaces: People specify various materials to protect the solderability of the pads on the board. Gold, actually, Electroless Nickel - Immersion Gold [ENIG], is popular. * Board fabricators like it because

We have a PCB with the dual sided connector that slides on from the edge and has leads on the top and bottom sides of the PCB. It has 20 leads on each side of the PCB with with about .8mm pitch. The PCB also has a gold grounding strip on the edge fo

Assuming agressive design rules what is the minimum distance I can get away with between the board edge and a SMT pad and between the board edge and a plated mounting hole ??? (The board is only 1"x2" and the mounting holes are 80 mil dia, 125 mil

mickd, I prefer a rail of 7.62mm (0.300"). This alows for the tooling pins and fiducials without any trouble and minimizes the waste. A fiducial of 1mm round with a 1mm clear area around it. Jerry

Hello mickd, The Fiducial Marks are normally etched along the vertical side of the PCB, therefore it will not be block by the XY table clamping rails. p.s. try to have a Shiny & Round Fiducial Mark as recommended by Fuji....so that you need not inp

We have a similar board and came up with a quick and dirty solution. The board locates via pins onto a manual desk press with strategically placed feet to break the mouse bite. Not really much quicker than doing it all by hand, but after a thousand p

You might reduce your panel size, cut it in half and rotate to better utilize your edge clamping/board supports. Tape off your current stencil and see if it improves the print. A new stencil and a little extra handling may be cheaper than tooling.

Our preference has been ENIG. We find that we achieve higher quality (visually) soldering for through hole and surface mount parts, with less handling issues than when we use white-tin, or immersion tin. We are about to do a test on some boards tha
