Hello, I want to ask on suitable temperature profile for PCBs with ENIG final surface finish. I know that it is complex question with many unknowns. When the PCB will be standard 1,5 mm 35/35 Cu and the amount of components will have any influence o

You can measure temperatures any place that you would like, but the issue is the temperature of the solder. We've seen solder temperatures that vary from lead to lead on the same component. Why don't you want to measure the temperature of your so

You can, and for small parts you probably won't see much difference between body temp. and lead temp. For QFPs or PLCCs there will be a much greater delta, though. I'd be more concerned with the small surface area you're making contact on (spherica

I concur with your second approach. A profile needs to be tailored to the design of the board, the components, and the solder paste. Your first approach seems to try to balance lower quality soldering with a lower process complexity.

CAL's word of caution is right on. We tend to stay in the 220C-225C max. temp. on our profiles, and that's because the last heads up from engineering came on a part with a spec. of 230C max. temp. We just found out that one of our old SOIC's is spe
