How compatible is SN100C wave on SAC305 hasl pcb or vice-versa?

Electronics Forum | Mon May 29 23:39:11 EDT 2006 | Faizal

Can anyone advice me on the effect of SN100C wave solder on SAC305 hasl board? I suppose the silver content on the hasl pcb would leech(contaminate) into solder pot.? Would it affect the surface bonding between copper pad and the solder.?

SN100C: High Temp

I've seen many comments in many threads about the positive attributes of SN100C (apparently mostly by salesmen). However, I have a concern for the higher temps that will be encountered when using SN100C (or Sn/Cu) vs. SAC305 (vs. 63/37), specifica

We have used the SN100C for over a year now with fanastic results. We use the SAC305 for SMT and SN100C wire exclusively. There are no problem mixing the alloys. I am also on the commitee for the NASA testing. The SN100C did out perform SAC and SnPb

Hi, So that's really important to have a specific flux for lead free? We are looking at changing to SN100C after reading this thread and other stuff we have found, so can anyone recommend the best no clean flux for that metal? Do you need differen

It's not a silly arguement. I'm guessing you are talking about wavesoldering? Think about holefill, The reason tin will not fully fill difficult holes is the temperature at the top is too low, it is below the melting point. Increase this melting

Cu dissolution PTH

Patrick, we were seeing a good amount of Cu-dissolution with both SAC305 and SN100C.. couldn't figure out.. till our good old vendors told us that the Cu thickness in the barrel were not correct... but anyway have started some new work with SAC30

has anyone used or trialed the SACX from Alpha, from reportes and studies carried out it seems that its a go between SAC305 and SN100.

Hi Jacki, You should change to SN100C instead of SAC305. It give you excellent quality: 1. Can reduced solder short & icicles problem. 2. Very shinning solder joints. Rgds, Zaza

S The tater/potater/potatoe is optional, although I'd rather put mine in the microwave while doing the pot swap so I can eat it afterwards.
