Siemens is an excellent platform. To reduce your scrap:- Carry out the specified maintenance, especially the segments and valve plungers; Calibrate revolver heads to benchmark. Remove the tables, smooth the magnetic strips, clean the mounting faces,

30 Layer PCB with 70% fallout. Are the 30% good?

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 02 17:10:03 EST 2010 | flipit

Remember this is a 30 layer PCB. If it is built in a multi up panel, there is lots of room for error. Lets say there are 10 circuits per panel. Say you have a 10% scrap rate that happens randomly within the 10 up panel of circuits. Apply this 10%

Voids

Hello, My company manufactures MLB's and is currently experiences so many voids due to a mistake in direct metallization (shadow line). We have tried testing every chemical component in the line and every possible maintenance. The scrap rate is goi

Hand Solder Defect Rate

Electronics Forum | Tue Jul 23 14:55:06 EDT 2002 | colnat

I am looking for defect rates on hand soldering. Specifically - I have a large number of wire jumpers that need to be hand soldered across two boards (connectors are not an option). I am looking for a defect rate so I can perform a cost analysis in

Possibility of a cheaper pick and place machine design?

Electronics Forum | Tue Jul 08 16:00:04 EDT 2014 | comatose

The boards are expensive because they are your product... covered in circuitry. A 2% scrap rate costs twice as much as a 1% scrap rate. Say the parts on your consumer electronics board cost $5. A machine that makes 99% good boards and 1% bad boards

Re: Component wastage

| Does anyone have any figures on what % extra compnents should be supplied on chip components for a particular product build. Typicaly there is wastage due to dropout in loading, 1st board build and machine rejections. Is there any industry standard

High Mix/Low Volume Part Kitting

Electronics Forum | Mon Aug 22 15:15:59 EDT 2005 | PWH

Can I please get some opinions on the best way to kit/present parts to the SMT line for high mix/low volume board manufacturing? We currently kit builds using a scrap rate assigned to different package sizes. It is O.K. but could use some refinemen

Calibration of feeders

Carl, That machine looks way expensive. We found a used Fuji microscopic jig for 3500.00 It came with the master jigs and master tapes. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it does exactly what it is supposed to. John, I am curious as t

High Mix/Low Volume Part Kitting

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 24 10:53:37 EDT 2005 | PWH

Thanks for the input. Currently we have the advantage of having almost all SMT operators trained in advanced programming so we are able to make changes easily to feeders, etc. Many of the things you mention we do at this time so it's funny to see t

Accounting for Dumped/Lost SMT Parts

Electronics Forum | Fri Nov 21 09:35:25 EST 2014 | gregcr

99% of the time the effort to try and track, count and update inventory takes more cost in labor than the parts are worth. We plan 2% scrap rate and move on with life. Simplifying the concept can actually save a lot of money in the long run. Can be
