I don't believe there should be any issues with the HASL finish. The issue is how long on the shelf and is a bake out required to remove moisture from PCB, as in any FR4 PCB's that may have had time to absorb moisture.

do you see signs of contamination or oxidation? if not why not just send them to the board house and have another OSP coating layer applied?

What is the proper storage and shelf life after washing a PCB with an OSP finish? We sometimes have to pull the boards off the line and wash the solder paste off the boards.

The best shelf life for OSP is run both sides the same day they are opened for the first time. They are good for JIT but I didn't know that they were still good after washing.

So if you stored them in a nitrogen cabinet then you would reduce the O2 diffusion as well as keep moisture out of the boards.

Hello Stephen, thanks for the advice. We are producing LED TVs & we have a facility for SMT and manual insertion. We are also thinking of changing the board finish from OSP (due to its shorter shelf life) to ENIG/Immersion Tin.

There are no industry standards for eutectic solder-paste in conjunction with the life span of solder-paste. Whatever that is. Speaking of that ['whatever that is.'], what do you mean by life span of solder-paste? Is that: * Shelf life? * Workin

I'm in the process of generating work instructions for our stores and production process with regards to moisture sensitive devices. And I'm a bit confused. I found out that we have many TSOP's, QFP's and BGA parts in sealed bags that have not been op

Hi, Is there a standard that covers the shelf life of PCB's? I need to know, how long after manufacture a PCB can be stored in an uncontrolled envoirnment exposed to the atmosphere before being built on, currently we say 1 year, but nobody really kno

Hello everybody, according to your experience, what is the allowed or suggested (by Suplliers,or Standards,or best pratics) shelf life for components (SMD/PTH) from fabbrication date to the soldering date ? Let's consider best case when compon
