Punched vs, Routered PCB's

We are investigating purchasing boards off-shore (Topsearch). Part of their process is to punch the matrix instead of router them. These boards are mixed technology. Is anyone aware of difficulity processing punched boards? Thanks, Mike

We build a good number of assemblies from 30-48 inches, but I believe all of the boards are produced "off-shore".

Gotcha. We are a CM and we build 48" LED boards. But we buy all of our long PCBs off shore.

What is the best soldering gun?

I also live in NC (mainly in the winter) but I think we are giving too much time to this. Most product is made off shore these days anyway.

Squeegees for Step-Down stencil

I wouldn't recommend a metal squeegee, because if you can't wipe the step-etched area completely clean (that's the problem with metal) you'll have problems with the definition of the fine-pitch (it may stick in the holes). Best is a 70 Shore polyuret

Greg, you pointed out yourself the many advantages of bulk feeding. I would like to mention that the higher component accuracy and the feeding track accuracy of the bulk feeder contribute to an improved pick failure rate of small ( 0402�s ) component

here are my thoughts on kester, I have rec'd a sample to qualify here and we cannot even get it out of the cartridge it is so dryed out. Rep informed me that Kester has a problem with its chemistry right now. Product is Mfgr'd in off shore location
