Back in the days when I was in charge of a Paintline Dip conformal coater, I had the same issue with a non-hermetically sealed Potentiometer. We tried to use rubber boots, but the capillary/wicking action of our silicone-based heat cured coating was

In addition to our earlier comments, do not be misled into thinking that silicone materials, being rubbery, will transmit shock less. Nothing is farther from the truth. Many silicone rubbers are almost totally incompressible in the short time scale.

I've got specialized tooling I'm building for SMT processing. It requires a 0.125" thick sheet of high temp. silicon rubber cut to shape. Does anyone know of someone who can cut silicon sheets to a specific pattern/design?

I'm a PCB designer working on a board that has a rubber keypad with control buttons mounted to it. The PCB contains the corresponding contact patterns for the buttons - a typical interlocking finger pattern. In the past when I've encountered this

ASTM E 443 is a test for sulfur by Oxygen Flask Combustion. Other instruments will detect sulfur (I assume a SEM with EDS capability will pick up the sulfur). We had an addition cure silicone potting compound inhibition problem last year that was t

I have a board which contains brass spacers. The spacers will pass through the wave during soldering. I found a silicon-rubber cap that can prevent solder climbing up into the spacer. However, the cap influence the wave flow and reduce the solderabil

Dave, Where can I get the rubber boots you are talking about? We are going to have to start doing 100% conformal coating of boards for some of our customers in high volume, we currently only do a selective coat. We currently use a silicon coating,
