Protect the board: If solder mask protects the board, the level of protection is limited and inconsistent. If you want protection, you need the be thinking conformal coating. Selective ENIG: I believe the reason solderability protection, except mayb

can silver plating be used as barrier when soldering brass to copper? silver plate the brass?

You know the scary part about your mentioning a tread where I post something? Well. let's just say that 2007 was a long time ago. Anyhow, silver will dissolve into your solder and provide no barrier. Some people apply a silver flash plating over the

Cleaning of 'No-Clean' paste

We are changing over to a No-Clean paste soon and l was wondering how other people tackle the issue of stencil and PCB cleaning in high-volume production. The paste we are using is Cobar 325RX and its pretty sticky stuff let me tell you! Our proble

| Cpk's on top flight ovens (e.g., Conceptronics, Heller, Electrovert, Vitronics) vary wildly, from 1 to 2+, between different supplers. The suppliers don't seem to understand Cpk's. A supplier's rep whose oven has a Cpk of 1.0 told me: | 1. Cpk's

Fluxes and Fluxers - the info is in the library

Hey - remember the evaluation of VOC-Free fluxes that I promised a couple of months ago? well, I finally scrounged up the time to remove the propreitary (board name and number) info from the report. So it's ready. I posted it in the SMTnet library

Micro crack for lead free wave solder

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 10 10:41:23 EDT 2005 | patrickbruneel

Bob, Great theory if you're selling SN100C, but I have to disagree that an alloy being 4C off eutectic will cause cracks. When a solder joint exits the solder wave, there is an immediate drop in temperature of 100C. so being off 4C is irrelevant.
