Do you have any programming stations that you use at the moment? What type of SMT machines do u use? After these are answered I can give a more clear definition. And the cost range you are willing to go with?

Also, with our CS machines, I don't need to know the exact location of the fids, I just teach them to the machine. What the software does with the data is bisect the line the centerline between the fids to find the centerpoint of the part.

We use an Asymtek 740 inline and are very happy with it so far after a year and a half or so. Programming is easy and no mechanical/software issues to date... JD

BP microsystems has an alternative programming module for IIC-IVC quad machines. They are located in Houston, Tx. I am not sure if they sell the software but you might get lucky.

Going to version 7 will indeed include a camera hardware upgrade. Depending on how bad your misery is....it might be worth it. I seem to remember it's around $15K for the upgrade.
