I want to avoid peoples preferences as they will differ and will not be a deciding factor. A heat gun will introduce risk to surrounding PTH components and having to add protection for those, will limit any gain in productivity. There is no question

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 16 13:30:20 EST 2010 | asksmt

Hi, I have specified Lead Free Plating for my Four Layer PCB. but the Final Production Solder Process is not Lead free it is leaded Process. My question is will there be an issue if we use Lead free plating on PCB and use leaded solder material fo

How to reduce solder joint voids of LED without using vacuum reflow?

Electronics Forum | Mon May 06 06:22:39 EDT 2019 | SMTA-Rogers

Hello! Do you have a better stencil design to reduce the large area of solder joint voids? Or is there a suggested way to set the reflow profile? Or are there other process improvements to make the solder joint at the LED pad less than 10% per void?

In both cases, it will depend on storage conditions, unless you do something horrible to them (or as previously mentioned, wash them) months & months. For boards we put through SMT and then stash for THT loading in smaller qty's I don't think we've e

Are you running a no clean process, or are you washing your PCBs? One caveat with ENIG is sometimes washing with hot DI water can effect solderability later on. I would also talk to your solder technicians and see what their preference is. Some pr

Questions About Risk of PCB Delamination as a Result of Moisture Build Up After Damage to Solder Mask

Electronics Forum | Tue Apr 23 17:18:54 EDT 2019 | laserpro

Hi Dave, Thanks a lot for your reply. After doing some process work on a Laser Etching machine it was brought to my attention by a colleague that if the solder mask was being penetrated fully, we could be at risk for absorption of moisture leading

Reflow issues with leaded paste and mixed components

Electronics Forum | Mon Nov 14 10:10:52 EST 2005 | davef

When soldering your full tin (no lead) and Pb95/Sn5 solder components, you need to modify your PbSn reflow recipe to compensate for the higher melting point of the changed solder alloy [with your Sn62/Pb36/Ag2 solder paste] on those component leads.

We are draining a leaded solder pot. I'm sure these would work with leaded as well. those look beautiful!

Michael What you say is not a reason for washing. It is a reason to not use Can't Clean solder paste. Although I guess if they use the real name they wouldn't sell as much as they do by calling it No Clean.
