| Again, I know this does not answer your needs. I do believe there to be a cheaper system than ours that will satisfy your needs. Big Steve found one that seems fairly reasonable for less damandig boards than ours. | | Earl Moon Hi Joe! Yeah Earl

Electronics Forum | Thu Oct 02 12:22:26 EDT 2008 | JerryS

Hello Ok there is not much info here. What you have to mae sure of is several key factors. 1. Have you entered the correct stencil thickness. 2. Are you using the stencil gerber (not the paste layer) The paste layer is usually not adjusted for ap

Costing new products - Qty of solder paste

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 16 03:04:50 EDT 2000 | rberry

Hi Does anyone have a tried and tested method of estimating the mass of solder paste that will be used for an SMD assembly given only the type and quantity of components used. (As well as type of paste, stencil thickness etc) In other words is there

Uncoalesced solder problem in fine pitch IC pads

Electronics Forum | Thu Sep 11 09:59:47 EDT 2008 | rarnold

Paste stored tip down, so separation in the tube is not suspect. Remember that the defect was produced on a screen printer running with a Rheopump. A few more details are that the strip of the board containing the uncoalesced solder is consistent w

Samtec Searay 500 pin connector solder wicking issue after reflow

I've worked with these quite a bit in the past as well. As the previous poster mentioned, we ran either 4/5 mil thick stencil with a pretty standard RTS profile in a 10 zone convention oven without issue.

Can we hide extra long pad with solder mask ?

Electronics Forum | Fri Nov 09 16:58:30 EST 2001 | davef

Go for it!!! You were unspecific, but adding mask to a completed board could cause: * Increased paste thickness, if you have double thickness of solder mask. * Wrinkled and lifted solder mask under the component, if the solderability protection of

Thanks Robl. I’ve contacted samtec followed their advice but ended up empty handed. Originally my stencil thickness is 6 mils, samtec stressed the need for the paste and charge to have good contact but this is challenged by the inherent charge non-co

Thanks Earl. Well following is the data regarding the product. 1. The panel consists of 21 boards. 2. The surface I mentioned would have 3 SMds and 1 T/hole connector. 3. PCB thickness is 55 mils and the width of the hole on the PCB for the thru-

Re: Poor HASL Finish known to cause solder shorts?

Electronics Forum | Fri Sep 24 10:57:18 EDT 1999 | Earl Moon

| Hi Folks: | | We've been having bridging problems on our fine-pitch QFP's, despite thorough inspection of paste height, volume, and placement accuracies....profiles look good also. | | The bridging is happening after coming out of reflow...one la
