LGA Rework

Electronics Forum | Thu Mar 19 11:04:28 EDT 2015 | eliran

Hi, I need to replace a LGA component from assembled boards. What are the best methods (automated ones preferred) for this process? The main issue is how to apply solder paste for the fine pitch (0.4mm) on assembled board. Thanks, Eliran Ave

Would be nice to see your profile, as I would imagine you could be too cool in reflow especially if seeing milky residues in Paste could be Organics that havent volatised out properly

Headers and SMT

You don't say how many headers you have to solder. I usually spec in High temp headers and use a pin-in-paste methodology and double reflow. Can you get your headers high temperature?

can we use same reflow oven for lead free and leaded solder paste, is there any chance of lead contamination in lead-free products.

Flux splatter issues

Your most likely ramping temp to fast and boiling the flux, or do have moisture in the fabs. BTW every solder paste rep has the solution until their product doesn.t work then they have excuses.

Sorry, I guess I don't know how to address an individual on this thread directly. The fella who represents the anti-flux solder paste - Graham Cooper.

Land Grid Array soldering

Hi Adamjs! Flux or paste is controlled at a depth of 50-60% per cent of the ball diameter prior to placement of a BGA or to place a PoP component on to a board or other device. For more details visit us at Soldertools.net
