As has already been mentioned, black residue is usually either from dross or just a dirty pot, pump, baffles, etc.. I also saw that maaaany years ago in a system that used a flawed oil intermix "feature" but hopefully those systems are long gone.

Hi Dave G, This is an interesting problem.. I can only add the following: - Try trimming the pins and see it this helps.. sometimes the decreased surface area will lessen the surface tension enough to minimize the effect of bridging. - As Dave F was

I haven't tried anything like that but had some experience with .8 mm pitch SSOPs. Immersion depth in wave was very critical- had to control Lambda pump speeds within 20 RPM and even then it would change as solder level dropped. Need thieving pads o

Patrick... Contact LENGTH as in inches, mm, or cm...not time..is decreased with a slower belt speed. The slower the speed, the less contact LENGTH with the wave per unit time ...whereas at a faster speed, your leads are contacting more solder, th

Dreamsniper, The optimum contact (dwell) time in the wave should be 2 seconds. Contact band width is a function of conveyor speed. For an example, 5cm of contact band width at 150cm/min. conveyor speed will give you 2 seconds of contact time and 2cm

I have had Selective issues such as yours on two very different Selective Solder Machines. I was able to eliminate these issues by using Alpha EF-9301 wave flux with any SAC305 solder. It's a more aggressive flux, but really made the difference. Anot

Here is some more info with regarding my Wave. 1. PCB .065" thick 2. leed length .20" (.135" protrution) I know this is high but we use many thousands and cutting each is not practical. 3. no clean flux by way of foam fluxer 4. wave machine is a HOL

Ive been lurking on the forum for a while so I will take a stab at this, mainly because there is no answer I take it that you have a variety of boards being produced at the same time and are in fixtures so the conveyors dont need to be adjusted, a

decrease pump rpm, for penitration try tweeking pitch as well as belt speed. On the delta wave spray pitch and belt speed are related.

| | Hi Jacqueline! | | Do these joints that you're having problems with happen to be on fine pitch solder joints? Are the fillets staying attached to the foot and separating from the pads cleanly? | | If that is true, are there many vias concen
