can silver plating be used as barrier when soldering brass to copper? silver plate the brass?

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 08 16:12:19 EDT 2017 | davef

Your plater's recommendation should work fine. Your simple copper plate will work, but you'll be stepping into fighting a copper tarnish battle. Silver over the copper is a better choice. I was thinking a silver thickness of a minimum of 3 microns

IPA versus Stencil Cleaning Solution

Electronics Forum | Thu Jun 15 06:58:54 EDT 2017 | cyber_wolf

Hmmm.... When I clean my stencils after I run a job, it is to clean the paste off the stencil so it doesn't dry out in the apertures and on the stencil surface while it is being stored. Wiping the stencils during production is to clear the paste of

Soldering electrolytic capacitor

Electronics Forum | Wed Jul 12 16:21:26 EDT 2017 | bk

When i considered using one I bought a cheaper brand named aoyue which cost less then $140 U.S. just to see if it would work for what we were trying. It did work but our engineering dept wound up scrapping it and doing a redesign. I was going to get

arrange the line on crystal oscillator

Electronics Forum | Mon Oct 23 03:52:32 EDT 2017 | wendymm

Hello guys, I'm a new learner in PCB field. And recently, I have summarized some basic information I learnt on how to arrange the line on crystal oscillator, but I'm not sure if it is right. So I'll write it down below, hope anyone who may read my po

How to choose equipment for Selective Soldering ?

Electronics Forum | Mon Oct 30 10:16:17 EDT 2017 | swag

We have two selective wave machines that run all day every day. We're pretty high mix. Almost all products don't require preheat but it is nice to have in case you need it on something dense. Good reliable flux sprayer is important. Software that

QFN84 Solder Printing Issue (QFN with Inner LGA Pad)

Electronics Forum | Fri Dec 01 15:06:54 EST 2017 | emeto

I am not sure that is doable. Ground Aperture is very small(for the stencil blade to get in there) and very close to the other apertures. I want to say the minimum requirement for step is 6mm clearance from other apertures for the stencil houses that

printed solder paste life time

Electronics Forum | Sun Jan 07 08:46:08 EST 2018 | spoiltforchoice

Your paste should specify a number of times it is OK for various things to happen. The two you might care about are the "Stencil Time"/"Working life", which is how long the paste can be out of the pot on your stencil while you print PCBs. The othe

Siemens HS180 Vision System placing compinents with PCB

Electrical Test problem

Electronics Forum | Thu Jan 18 17:26:30 EST 2018 | davef

I'm aware of no electrical test for detecting voids and air bubbles. If someone was x-raying my boards and saw voids and air bubbles and they weren't happy about it, first thing I'd do is convince them that the boards a within standard. You know some
