| I am looking for information on reflow temps for a flex board. There is only one 6 pin IC but the board has a 3M double sided tape. | Is it possible to reflow without damaging the tape. Any suggestions? Do you have a profiler for your reflow oven?

Alternate Solders/methods of flex attachment to pcb's

hi all, could someone have an idea, would it be the best method to attach a flex cable to a pcb. right now, we are using a hot bar to solder the flex to the pcb, but we are having troubles with this method. the process is no regular all the time a

Pre-bake of Polyimide flex ? ?

Electronics Forum | Wed Dec 22 18:09:07 EST 2004 | kmorris

At a previous job I had been taught that when reflow soldering polyimide flex circuits, it was necessary to pre-bake them before reflow soldering to prevent delamination. Our procedures said that there must be a 1hr bake prior to reflow, and the flex

Omar: I dealt with this so called "hot bar" process also, and you're right; it's neither reliable nor repeatable. The goal was to attach a flex LCD display to another flex circuit. The flex LCD was constructed of resin and conductive silver particl

This is a defect in all IPC classes. Solder has not wetted to the land where solder is required.

I agree with the two other replies. Left alone, it is a defect. If it's just excess adhesive or coating, you can use IPC-7711/7721 'Rework, Modification and Repair of Electronic Assemblies' for guidance on removing. Section 2.3.1 explains how to te

Wave soldering

Does anyone know of literature available for newcomers to the wave soldering process? We are trying to teach some greenhorns on wave soldering, but we also would like to give them something to read up on. We are soldering very thick boards (32 layers

Paste-in-Hole reflow soldering

If you kink the leads will you be able to insert it without flexing the board/moving any of the other components? Also these pin headers aren't always designed for this process so have you checked that it will take the elevated temperatures?
