Suitable temperature for solderjoint ?

Electronics Forum | Mon Nov 15 12:27:33 EST 1999 | Wolfgang Busko

Hello everybody, engeneering came up with following problem: Considering worst case the get a temperature at a component (Resistor 0805) of 109C and 99C at the solderjoints. As a rule of thump I said that the max. suitable temperature for the solde

Wolfgang: Sounds like gluteus maximus protection time. 1 "Maximum suitable temperature for the solder joint should be half the liquidous temperature" is a good rule of thumb. Where it came from, I dont know. One place Ive seen it repeated is: H

More Toyota recalls, but this time due to solderjoint crack

Under certain circumstances, Toyota says, solder connections may develop a crack that creates unpredictable behavior in the circuit. Look here: http://www.thecarconnection.com/marty-blog/1048692_toyota-recalls-1-1-mi

Re: Crack solder joint. Whats the cause?

Hi Charly, short question, short answer: excessive mechanical influence often in combination with bad solderjoint itself. For bad solderjoints there are many many reasons, process and material related. Are there any special circumstances that made y

PWB strain specs?

Electronics Forum | Wed Jul 30 16:57:23 EDT 2008 | stevek

Folks, I'm looking for some specs for the maximum bend or strain that should be put on a PWB. Not looking at the solderjoints. I'm concerned with localized bending of the fab and what might be a reasonable limit for that bending. I've measured 105

Tombstone caused by flux residue

Electronics Forum | Thu Jul 07 18:03:27 EDT 2005 | russ

Sarag, FYI tombstoning is a functional failure. Tombstoning is where one end of the component is not soldered and is in the air above the board/solderjoint surface. You may be thinking of billboarding (part on its side with both ends soldered down)
