Aluminum wire bonding

Electronics Forum | Wed Mar 17 21:42:19 EST 1999 | Chuck Garth

We are presently aluminum wirebonding to gold plated lands. Our board manufacturer has been very inconsistient in the quality. It seems as though theey are over etched by about half the amount they should be. Can anyone give me the spec's that normal

Cleaning under, around, and through tight spaces

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 05 15:36:53 EST 1999 | Earl Moon

A question for you all! Back in the good old days, we didn't always know how clean was clean. Much has changed. Much hasn't. My question concerns cleaning under, through, and around tight spaces. Way back when, we could not clean under 20 mil pitch

8 mil placement, part Deaux!!

Electronics Forum | Fri Sep 11 14:15:24 EDT 1998 | tim scully

Thanks to all Earl, Mathew and David for the SMT info. I have one more question. Does anybody have a chart listing the standard, industrial spacings? Perhaps listing in each unit, say XX mils = XX Pitch. Or XX mils = XXmm or something of that nat

BGA Straight crack

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 21 13:08:06 EST 2002 | vincent_f

Hello, I had recently a problem of crack between the solder ball (SnPb) and the Ni layer of the PCB pad. We use Electroless Ni/Au technology for PCB. This phenomena is amazing because the crack is very clean (straight) and it creates a space betwee

Local fiducial spacing...

Electronics Forum | Fri Jun 10 14:22:53 EDT 2005 | pr

Are the local fids. necessary? Anyway, I can't think of any reason the local fids. would have to be spaced exactly the same distance from the part. We place BGA's and QFP's using board fids, and have yet to find a problem that local fids helped fix.

Via holes and Wave Solder

Electronics Forum | Tue Mar 07 08:48:55 EST 2006 | samir

Our ICT Guy here at my company loves to use lots of via holes as test points - via holes which are 0.040" diameter, and spaced at 0.004" edge to edge spacing! He doesn't like to tent the via's either, so I always battle via-to-via shorts at the wave

Clearance between Through hole and chip component

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 27 20:53:10 EST 2007 | davef

We'll guarantee the two pads are too close together. The proper spacing depends on the orientation of the parts to the wave. * Do the pads hit the wave at the same time? * Does one pad hit the wave before the other? If so, which? * How does the 06

Universal sequencer

Electronics Forum | Thu May 17 10:02:43 EDT 2007 | slthomas

It's been years, so take my comments as being worth what you're paying for them. ;) Sounds like it could be running out of memory space. I don't remember anything about being able to clear it or whether or not the exec shares space with anything els

Min spacing for land patterns from PCB edge

Electronics Forum | Thu Mar 20 17:39:41 EDT 2008 | boardhouse

FSW, Another suggestions is if you have rail on your product and you are concerned about stress fracturing certain components you could add a routed slot to add relief in that area. So when you snap the rail off their would be no stress in that area

0402 tombstones

Electronics Forum | Wed Apr 15 17:16:00 EDT 2009 | rmitchell

Hi, I am trying to reduce some 0402 cap tombstones. The main cause is the pad spacing is a little too far apart and the parts are as tall as they are wide .5mm I am stuck with the pad spacing for a while. All other parts are soldering well, even 0
