Here's what we suggest: * Keep a 5-mm space between a board edge and a ceramic capacitor. * Mount the capacitor parallel relative to the edge. * Design pads about a half of the termination. * Fixture the board when using your pizza cutter.

Yes, courtyard gives you the space requirement of a component. Sometimes, the working space of a rework tool takes precidence, though.

Can someone point me to a standard, if there is any, or design rule regards with preffared spacing between PTH and SMT pads for LF wave soldering process (SAC alloy)

Chris, If the short in the picture is parallel to the wave turning the board 90Deg will solve the issue. Because then the lagest spacing will face the wave parallel and the smallest space perpendicular.

Hello All, Are there any documents that list component spacing requirements in terms of DFM/ DFA. I was going through IPC website but wasn't able to find any. Thanks!

I'm thinkin you can buy a lot of stencils for 200K. If you are worried about floor space, buy frameless, or space saver stencils. Will not jet WS paste.

Funny enough. I did the switch backwards. Just out of curiosity, how much space do the two VG frames on your picture occupy on this specially designed rack? I bet you it is not much different than the 26mm I will need to have two space saver frames.

Correct. The box size is the same as the space saver frame. VG rack is additional expense as well as supporting the VG frames. I have done VG for 5 years and never going back to it. Space saver is the better way.

I'm a bit confused about reading IPC-275 (I know I should have IPC-2221/2222) but I'm sure they are similar. Anyway, I am doing a: Military, less than 100V, non-conformal coated PCB, External Etch Sec 5.3.1.4 Edge Spacing.. (Pg 61) says use Tabl
