I guess I should have stated that I Checked the archives. I also guess I should have stated in the post "has anybody tried them yet and do you have faith". I will learn how to post better.

ESD Smocks and chairs

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 19 21:44:20 EDT 2007 | rfrog

The first thing that I would do is contact the smock manufacturer and ask them for advice on testing the smocks. ESD FROM A TO Z 2nd ed. (Kolyer) states that: smocks should have a resistivity of less than 10^12/sq and must not shed steel fibers.

Granite Surface and ESD

Electronics Forum | Thu Mar 31 23:14:18 EST 2005 | Steve

Russ if your asking me if covering the surface of the granite defeats the purpose then I'm lost. An ionizer is a very good suggestion but they are not inexpensive. If the table is grounded and the metal bars are on a grounded mat, laminate etc. then

Doug you are correct, I was talking about the integrety of the surface for mechanical measurement accuracy, not ESD properties.

ESD flooring and footwear

Electronics Forum | Wed Oct 11 12:37:56 EDT 2006 | realchunks

Rob is right. ESD flooring is "Conductive" which means it can drain ESD from the body. But if you have an insulated shoe, it does not good, the ESD remains on the body. Now if you wear a smock, then you can rub ballons in your hair and touch any

ESD Smocks and chairs

Electronics Forum | Tue Jun 05 20:36:01 EDT 2007 | rfrog

LarryP, ESD smocks in combination with a wrist strap provide a path to ground for any charge potential. An operator wearing a smock while grounded will provide a path to ground for the chair. With an ESD chair you can have antistatic or static

ESD flooring and footwear

Hello, I've ran into information claiming that ESD dissipative floor mats and laminate is not effective unless paired with ESD footwear or heel straps. Can anyone confirm or deny? Thanks! -OtheRuss

ESD Smocks and chairs

We are looking at ESD chairs in our EPROM room. Currently we are using smocks with wrist straps, this was set up before me. Is there any special or different things that needs to be done to the smocks to make them work with an ESD chair?

Granite Surface and ESD

Electronics Forum | Mon Mar 28 09:56:36 EST 2005 | n wolford

We have a granite table out on our production floor. We use the table along with metal parallel bars and a height gauge to measure component height. Some of these boards have components on them that may be ESD sensitive. Does anyone have experience w

We agree with Ken. What does your field meter tell you? Taking it a step further [erzit backward?], what is it about the measurement that requires the granite surface? Wouldn't an ESD protected bench top be as flat as needed for most gauging like
