Conformal coating

Electronics Forum | Mon Jan 26 19:51:48 EST 2004 | davef

You should be able to obtain a smooth finish. A "glass-like finish" is in part a function of the coating material, assuming good process. When we see "orange peel" conformal coating, we think moisture from the spray room environment, conpressor, et

epoxy coating methods

Electronics Forum | Wed Jun 16 09:46:02 EDT 2004 | blnorman

Have you considered spraying the coating? Check with the manufacturer of the epoxy to see if they recommend any equipment and whether or not the coating would have to be mixed with solvent to provide a smooth, thin even coat.

leadfree solder content to avoid wire being thin

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 28 10:18:35 EST 2006 | Steve Gregory

I just went through the same problem. We have an inductor that is made with a bundle of 30-strands of Litz wire that is vaccuum coated with varnish, and have the ends of the wire bundles tinned that we have to solder to SMT pads on the board. The ind

epoxy coating methods

Our research group is looking for a more efficient method of coating a small piece of sheet metal. We have a 1.5cm x 1.5cm very thin sheet of metal that we are coating with liquid epoxy, using a brush that was provided. This method has become unacc

uv stable conformal coating

Electronics Forum | Tue Jan 13 16:40:03 EST 2004 | Jacob Lacourse

Hi folks, I have a conformal coating application where I need the coating to be UV stable for a number of years without any crazing or cracking of the coating. I have looked for such a coating and have come up empty handed. Much of the circuit boar

Inspect workmanship through conformal coating

Electronics Forum | Mon Sep 05 16:24:09 EDT 2016 | davef

inspect => conformal coat ... and standards are aligned with that philosophy. I can imagine doing a good job inspecting assembly after being coated with particular coating thickness, optical properties, lighting conditions. Ultra-thins are so thin

Ink marking under conformal coating

Electronics Forum | Thu Jul 05 09:43:32 EDT 2012 | duso02

What is the specific make/model of the SR? Being in an aerosol, I'm sure they thin it down quite a bit so that thinner is what is attacking your ink.

Conformal coating bubbles with 1B73

Electronics Forum | Wed Feb 16 12:47:58 EST 2011 | dennisfo

I've been here approx. 3 months. It was indicated that Xylene has alwas been used but it was never indicated that bubbles were not present in the past (ignored or touchup). I have a sample of Humiseal 73 thinner ordered for testing. We've been thinne

Conformal coating mask dots and halos

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 25 07:37:42 EST 2010 | pcbrown

We are using Humiseal 1B31 and polyester dots for masking. We are spraying this in a Binks sprayer mixed at almost 1:1 with 521 thinner. Whe are seeing the coating creating thin halos around the poly dots as if the dots are "rejecting" the coating. T

confomal coating help /Contract coater (for an Outdoor LED PCB)

Electronics Forum | Mon Feb 02 16:45:05 EST 2009 | alexander_jw

Looking for a clear conformal coating that can protect a PCB outdoors in Southern CA. Board is 24" x .25" x .03125. Require product to withstand some flexing during installation because of its very thin profile. Must hold up to environment for 10yrs+
