Electroplating [electrolytic] and dipping [HASL] are the two methods for applying solder coatings to features on boards. Disadvantages of electroplating lead / tin are: * "Weak knees" created at the edge of plated through holes. [I used to get weak k

Despite all my efforts I cannot eliminate icycling on my t/h leads. They come and go.... daily, lots of rework. I have eliminated the following from the scenrio: Inadequate flux to promote quick drainage, Pot temperature too low, Soldering surface

Thanx Dave, I agree with you on the planning part...yapp!! the same guy who've thrown an old datecode components to me..now they did it again on the PCB. Well Dave, could you explain a little bit more about the "hi-test flux" that you mentioned ab

I am looking at the Pump application for several bottom side applications we have. They are heavy in through hole radial and dip content. The initial testing of the stencil was very good, but I am concerned with inspection of the glue. We do a sampli

Maintain DI water to 18 Meg Ohms resistivity. You can go down as low as 2 Meg ohms, in a pinch, but I would caution on what type of board you are running if trying to clean on 2 Meg ohm. Anything that is running an RF or high frequency circuit could

I have to agree with Michael's comments. We've been evaluating systems for a month or so. There's a pretty wide range depending on what you're looking for. I'd say the first thing needed is to define your expectations. Are you looking for solder in

I don't know what type of boards you are doing but if they are through hole or surface mount. You can get a whole line of used equiptment for pennys these days. I am sure that I could send you a quote for a complete line. The price of used equiptment

KA, Joshua makes a good point. A wave solder fixture will allow you to process your double-sided boards without having to add the epoxy step. The one time fixed cost of a fixture is quickly offset by the time that you save by not gluing your SMT.

John: The 180 Tg point is a sweet spot for obtaining heat resistance, cost effectivly. These high technology boards provide good thermal resistance for wire bonding, direct chip attach, and BGA mounting and rework. Since these boards are harder th
