Hi, I have a very basic question for tin whisker testing. Do I thermal cycle/age the Components only or solder them to a ckt board and then thermal cycle/age the PCB assembly??

Nah, couldn't have been a tin whisker, we keep getting told they're a myth, & we're getting excited over nothing. A bit like the loch Ness monster or sunshine in the UK.

Dont tin whiskers vaporize if they short because of the current going through them? I also think they're a myth...

Anyone think that this, http://img336.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nodule27wc.jpg, is a nodule which will eventually grow into a tin whisker? Observe the plating on the component lead. Thanks in advanced for opinions.
