Hi everyone....I'm a student working on a short research project on industrial control algorithms - and part of the scope that we are looking at is SMT pick and place machines. I was wondering if anyone knows what type of control is used for the no

Fellows, We are considering getting an AOI machine to inspect boards that our vendors are giving us (we outsource the assembly of PCBAs). We have low volumes of boards, but every time a defect does slip by our human inspectors, it causes a lot of

Is anyone using an AOI machine for through-hole checking? We have a need to check post-build on some PCBs', but there doesn't seem to be any obvious AOI solution. Is there such a beast available?

Sorry, I have not read the article. However, I do have five years experience constantly tweaking an AOI system that ran ONE product! The strength of the machine was solder inspection. The biggest problem was component color variation and shadowing

I am looking for a source of metal pins. The rough dimensions are 0.500” long, and 0.025” x 0.025” square. They will be soldered to circuit cards on both ends, so must be a solder able metal. No special needs in the strength area, i just need a good

We use a Mirtec MV-3L for SMT work, but now have a requirement for inspecting through hole boards. I am aware of many of the AOI machines for SMT work, but can't seem to find anything for through hole from a major (well-known) manufacturer. Any usef

We acquired a used ViTrox V510 AOI machine, our first AOI machine. The programming interface is quite a bit different from our Pick and Place machines so our current tech is not familiar with it. We read the programming manual and made some progress

Hi everybody, First of all, to have process under 100% control you should have AOI after every active process in the pcb assembly line : - Post printing (2D or 3D Solder paste inspection machine); - Post reflow; - Post selective(wave solder). It i

I programmed Orbotech VT-8000 and VT-9300 for around 5 years also. We have been using VI Technology Vi3k3 machines for the past 2 years. I find them to be far superior to the Orbotech machines in every way. To be fair, the Orbotech models we used wer
