I'd take a look at the power supply for the failed axis and see if it's still working. I've also seen encoders fail on motors but it's rare in my experience. Usually it's a power issue.

It could be a blown fuse on the power distribution panel or a failed power supply. Check the power distribution board in the front lower center of the machine. There are 11 LEDs on the board and 10 should be ON

If you call up Universal tech support at 1-800-842-9732, any of those guys or gal would email you the schematics to the MPUP feeder setup station.

I thought I saw that there is a retro kit required to supply the proper power to the multi pitch feeders from older machines. Check the Universal web site for info on the multi pitch I think that is where I read about it...

Check the fuses on the power distribution panel. All of them have indicating LED, so check is easy. Maybe 24V feeder supply is out...

Our service prices are regionalized.In Malaysia the assessment price is $600 plus travel and expenses. Since we have service staff located in Singapore (easy drive to Johor etc.) and an office in Penang, I would not expect this to be too significant.
