UIC UPS Version 8+

Electronics Forum | Mon Oct 19 19:40:34 EDT 2009 | swag

Thanks for the input. These are 80 pin fine pitch connectors on arrayed flex circuits. We have found from experimenting there is really no good alternative but to use local fids. I found what I'm doing wrong - I needed to move fid finds and correc

5 Zone Reflow Oven

Electronics Forum | Mon Oct 26 17:04:30 EDT 2009 | stepheniii

IIRC the IPC spec for oven profiling says the thermocouple leads should not be more than one meter in length. I think when you can afford it, getting a data logger to go through the oven would be a good idea. But if you are going to use the very lon

Researching placement machines - where do I start?!

Electronics Forum | Thu Nov 05 18:23:35 EST 2009 | gregp

SAM vs XRAY

Electronics Forum | Wed Feb 10 08:55:14 EST 2010 | blnorman

X-ray is probably more useful in the grand scheme of things. SAM will, like Glenn said, pick up delams in components especially at internal interfaces. X-ray will only pick up a defect like this if it's perpendicular to the delam, very difficult.

Vapor Phase Reflow

Electronics Forum | Wed May 12 17:54:22 EDT 2010 | jlawson

Just a note, on fixed galden machines yes the way they compensate for rise time is as the previous post suggested, change power and also stage the lowering of the PCB into the vapor cushion ie not the main one but further up in the tank. The disadvan
