We have an AUREL CS1222 machine to measure the thickness of the solder paste deposited on a bare board by a stencil printer. This device has a laser beam that has to be put on the pad where you want to measure the solder paste thickness. The measure

I assume you're looking at stencil fab equipment because you need 'faster turns' than you can get from available stencil suppliers. While you're assessing this, consider other alternatives, such as: * Dispensing paste. [A very funny SMTNetter, livin

I have dealt with it before and usually it's consistent, so you use some simple math to work around the issues. Now, if you have so much variability between different locations on your board for resist thickness, HASL thickness, etc., that it fouls

We have a Yamaha GEM and the laser will not recognise components. The laser has been changed in the past by another engineer, but this failed to rectify the problem. Can anyone advise how to test the laser or use some machine diagnostics so that I

Many years ago I remember the Philips CSM series SMT machines used a small tubular laser system for identifying fiducials on the PCB. Can anyone suggest suppliers for these devices. Thanks.

We've been using lasers to mark barcodes on our boards for some time now. We use a CO2 laser to burn through the solder mask on most of our boards. The machine is enclosed so the operators aren't exposed to the laser. The laser is also mounted on

We had a similar system on the Siemens machines, quite some time ago. However, it was not a laser light but a LED and a fiber cable. Actually the center fiber or receiver was surrounded by a bundle of small fibers for the LED light source. You may al

Ken, You'd think so but the tooling pins only register to the drilling process for the PCB. The fiducial registers to the copper pattern and for both glueing and placing SMT components the pads are more important than the holes. That's why the machi
