Excess solder on pins

Electronics Forum | Wed Jul 08 15:18:20 EDT 1998 | Upinder Singh

We are wave soldering a board having 24 similar thru hole connectors on it, using a wave soldering pallet. The problem is that one particular pin of connector in around 6-9 connectors get excess solder on the bottom side. I have tried all the parame

The parameters which effect the problem you are having are flux and contact time try first increasing the flux you are applying. Next reduce the contact time in the wave by adjusting the back flow plate. If the problem is a jig design check out the j

Through hole pins not soldering

Electronics Forum | Wed Sep 23 00:06:34 EDT 2020 | SMTA-64387098

I have modules that come with a 4 x 2 pin header. The problem is the pins must be oxidized as they do not take solder (no wetting occurring). This occurs whether solder in our wave soldering machine or soldered by hand. I tried cleaning the module i

SMT Connectors with locating pins

My first thought is board warp. This is something you can't see when the board is in a reflow oven. I see it occasionally going through wave solder. You may need a pallet with hold down clamps for reflow. Try putting a bare board in a baking oven at

Flux residue on connector pins

Chen, It is always best to place ones effort on determining the cause and content of the residue rather than trying to work around it. The first thing you must determine is the nature of the residue. Is it flux? In many instances, the residue is

Solder Balls on end of long pins

Electronics Forum | Wed Sep 08 16:44:15 EDT 1999 | Rob Jankowski

I am wave soldering a single sided through hole PCB array with (6) .040" round diameter pins that sit .5" off the PCB, and .080" apart. The problem being experienced is that solderballs are appearing on the end of the pins. I have tried decreasing
