Hi i am referring Tin whisker report JESD201A class 2 standard from Vishay. i can see at TC -55/85C using pbfree reflow there are 0 growth at 500&1000 cycles. for snpb reflow and the same temperature and same cycle significant growth can be found. my

Being a typically efficient Swiss based company Swatch started the task of RoHS conversion a year ago. After 2 years of intensive research they implemented the process in mass production in June 2005, they started shipping and found massive problem

Has anyone had any experience with using this alternative plating process? Some board houses are pushing toward this plating. Is there any long term data on this process? Any problems experienced with smt and thru-hole? I've heard tin whiskers to be

The classic dilemma, cost vs. performance. In typical applications, Sn whisker growth is not an issue. It only seems to occur under extreme use (high stress, low temperature)conditions. Until this issue is fully addressed, Pd seems to be the favor

Everyone has been playing a guess game so far :-) but we don't even know what the lead finish is:-) Even old (Sn-Pb finish) days, the ammount of Pb in the plating would be on a single digit level (just to mitigate Sn-whiskers growth), meaning that th

Well, typical content of Pb in Sn/Pb polating is a few percent (just to mitigate Sn whiskers growth). Therefore, the lead finished with SAC305 won't be much different from those finished with Sn/Pb. You can make one or two cross-sections for sanity c

Interesting observation Manuel. I will be blamed again for crying wolf but look below a lot more defects will soon see the daylight all related to lead-free. This information was posted at the tin whisker forum by Bob Landman of H&L Instruments.
