The specifications are very similar. Is the key difference speed between them? MG1 being ~10% faster? Will the ipulse take abuse like MG1? MG1 is 2x more expensive, can buy 2 ipulse M2s instead of 1 MG1.

Opal XII, MG-1 (and substitites from Yamaha available in Asia). Unlimited spare parts, cheap feeders, etc. MG-1 is faster, better for service (opinion of a friendly serviceman)

User interface is totally different on those machines. iPulse is a price/performance machine, MG1 was the best, once but is pretty old now.

I already see that most of these connectors are on trays - I just don't know if they are suitable for the machine. And I don't know what nozzles Yamaha/Assembleon/Philips use.

Hello What feeder do you use for the long connector (65-80mm) - tape feeder, tray? What nozzles? We want to mount a SODIMM200 socket. I don't know whether to look on the tape or on the trays... The MG1 spec says it will mount connectors up to 100mm (

Oh yeah I saw Trans Tec is offering support for the Yamaha made Assembleon machines. I believe this was the GEM series and the MG series that replaced them so they may have some as well.

OK, so all GEM Machines & MG were built by Yamaha, and imported in to Europe & USA and other places by Philips. After a while Philips developed it's own machine - the FCM. Philips then sold off it's SMT division and it was rebranded Assembleon.
