Big Data as a Promoter of Industry 4.0: Lessons of the Semiconductor Industry

Technical Library | 2021-12-02 01:51:28.0

The catchphrase "Industry 4.0" is widely regarded as a methodology for succeeding in modern manufacturing. This paper provides an overview of the history, technologies and concepts of Industry 4.0. One of the biggest challenges to implementing the Industry 4.0 paradigms in manufacturing are the heterogeneity of system landscapes and integrating data from various sources, such as different suppliers and different data formats. These issues have been addressed in the semiconductor industry since the early 1980s and some solutions have become well-established standards. Hence

High-precision dispensing technology: Potting technology for medical wearables

Technical Library | 2023-07-27 18:41:40.0

Diabetes affects many millions of people worldwide. New technology for real-time glucose measurement replaces the usual unpleasant pricking of a finger: a sensor located in the subcutaneous tissue of the diabetes patient measures the glucose values and transmits them to a receiver. Production of such medical wearables calls for high-precision dispensing systems for applying very small amounts of UV adhesives to medical PCBs and for integrated system concepts to achieve this. A perfect task for Scheugenpflug.

SELECTIVE SOLDERING TECHNOLOGY SELECTION

Technical Library | 2023-11-14 19:42:24.0

Selective soldering is not a new process. It is already exists and used 30 years ago for through-hole component by different industries for automotive and medical products. Now most manufacturing industries are moving forward on SMD's miniaturization to reduce PCB complexity and balance component density on the board to ensure a good assembling process. By this concept, why selective soldering still utilized and used? Does it because of component reliability, uniqueness or complexity having this in mind next question will be which platform will best fit for the product

Realization of a New Concept for Power Chip Embedding

Technical Library | 2020-10-18 19:31:27.0

Embedded components technology has launched its implementation in volume products demanding high levels of miniaturization. Small modules with embedded dies and passive components on the top side are mounted in hand held devices. Smartphones have been the enablers for this new technology using the capabilities of embedded components. With this technological background another business field became interesting for embedded components – the embedded power electronics. The roadmap of the automotive industry shows a clear demand for miniaturized power electronic applications. Drivers are the regulations for the international fleet emissions which are focusing on three major trends.

High Frequency DK and DF Test Methods Comparison High Density Packaging User Group (HDP) Project

Technical Library | 2016-03-24 17:37:09.0

Today's Electronic Industry is changing at a high pace. The root causes are manifold. So world population is growing up to eight billions and gives new challenges in terms of urbanization, mobility and connectivity. Consequently, there will raise up a lot of new business models for the electronic industry. Connectivity will take a large influence on our lives. Concepts like Industry 4.0, internet of things, M2M communication, smart homes or communication in or to cars are growing up. All these applications are based on the same demanding requirement – a high amount of data and increased data transfer rate. These arguments bring up large challenges to the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design and manufacturing. This paper investigates the impact of different PCB manufacturing technologies and their relation to their high frequency behavior. In the course of the paper a brief overview of PCB manufacturing capabilities is be presented. Moreover, signal losses in terms of frequency, design, manufacturing processes, and substrate materials are investigated. The aim of this paper is, to develop a concept to use materials in combination with optimized PCB manufacturing processes, which allows a significant reduction of losses and increased signal quality.

EUV Lithography -The Successor to Optical Lithography?

Technical Library | 1999-05-07 08:53:21.0

This paper discusses the basic concepts and current state of development of EUV lithography (EUVL), a relatively new form of lithography that uses extreme ultraviolet (EUV) radiation with a wavelength in the range of 10 to 14 nanometer (nm) to carry out projection imaging. Currently, and for the last several decades, optical projection lithography has been the lithographic technique used in the high-volume manufacture of integrated circuits. It is widely anticipated that improvements in this technology will allow it to remain the semiconductor industry's workhorse through the 100 nm generation of devices. However, some time around the year 2005, so-called Next-Generation Lithographies will be required.

The PCB Used In Marine Industry Paving Way For Innovations

Technical Library | 2016-08-02 06:10:56.0

As the technology has become a universal key to major developments, the marine and boat industry has shown elevated growth in recent time. The marine market circumscribes on the electronic and design solutions for every single innovation. All the developments in Marine sector has and are heading towards a notion of modernization and among these, printed circuit board is grounding the research and developments. How to increase the efficiency of the device? How to gain optimum fuel efficiency? Does the dual fuel concept become a buzz word for major innovations? These are the basic questions which are considered to bring new novelties in the market.

Success Story of PCB Assembly Trend

Technical Library | 2016-08-04 10:34:35.0

With the onset of 1900’s, the novelty of printed circuits boards got started with a profound concept of constructing an electrical path on an isolated surface of a board. The initial trend of printed circuit board got into a vain to develop and upgrade the radios and gramophones. Gradually the notion of ‘Through Hole Technique’ came into picture to produce a double sided PCB. In mid 1990’s the idea of auto assembly process was introduced by PCB Manufacturer USA. This was a point of modern touch to enhance the fabrication process with automated soldering technique. The research and development picked up a pace for end to end electronic solutions for defense and US army.

Conformal Surface Plasmons Propagating on Ultrathin and Flexible Films

Technical Library | 2013-09-05 17:44:14.0

Surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are localized surface electromagnetic waves that propagate along the interface between a metal and a dielectric. Owing to their inherent subwavelength confinement, SPPs have a strong potential to become building blocks of a type of photonic circuitry built up on 2D metal surfaces; however, SPPs are difficult to control on curved surfaces conformably and flexibly to produce advanced functional devices. Here we propose the concept of conformal surface plasmons (CSPs), surface plasmon waves that can propagate on ultrathin and flexible films to long distances in a wide broadband range from microwave to mid-infrared frequencies.

Exposing the Myth: The Value of Branding in B2B Markets

Technical Library | 2009-04-30 19:12:05.0

A brand is the most important strategic asset your business will ever possess. Yet ask even the most experienced marketer and they will struggle to communicate the concept in a single sentence. Furthermore, if you were to approach the majority of today's business-to-business organisations, they would probably tell you that branding finds little application in a market allegedly filled with dispassionate decision makers. However, an increasingly competitive market landscape is eroding this reality - if, indeed, it ever existed. B2B marketing must follow the example of its consumer-focused counterpart and embrace the notion that a strong brand has the power to differentiate, build and protect those it represents in the face of incessant commoditization.
