The Influence of Clean Air on the Value-Added Chain in Electronics Production

Technical Library | 2019-02-25 05:24:53.0

"The idea of the value chain is based on the process view of organizations, the idea of seeing a manufacturing (or service) organization as a system, made up of subsystems each with inputs, transformation processes and outputs".[1] The definition of a value-added chain by Michael E. Porter is one of many to be found in reference books, works and on websites. In principle, it involves a sequence of activities, executed by a manufacturing company to develop, produce, sell, ship, and maintain products or services. Three main parameters essentially influence a value-added chain: Direct activities − research, development, production, shipment etc. Indirect activities − maintenance, operation, occupational safety, environment etc. Quality assurance − monitoring, test/inspection; quality management etc. In particular, indirect activities and quality assurance generate a greater part of the costs in product manufacturing. This article principally focusses on the indirect activities, among them air purification.

Reduce Pollution of Process Gasses in an Air Reflow Oven

Technical Library | 2019-07-02 23:02:05.0

The introduction of lead-free solders resulted in a selection of different chemistries for solder pastes. The higher melting points of lead-free alloys required thermal heat resistant rosin systems and activators that are active at elevated temperatures. As a result, more frequent maintenance of the filtration systems is required and machine downtime is increased.Last year a different method of cleaning reflow ovens was introduced. Instead of cooling down the process gasses to condensate the residues, a catalyst was used to maintain the clean oven. Catalytic thermal oxidation of residues in the nitrogen atmosphere resulted in cleaner heating zones. The residues were transformed into carbon dioxide. This remaining small amount of char was collected in the catalyst. In air ovens the catalyst was not seen as a beneficial option because the air extracted out of the oven was immediately exhausted into the environment. When a catalyst is used in an air environment there is not only the carbon dioxide residues, but also water. When a catalyst is used in an air reflow oven the question is where the water is going to. Will it condensate in the process part of the oven or is the gas temperature high enough to keep it out of the process area? A major benefit of using a catalyst to clean the air before it is exhausted into the environment is that the air pollution is reduced dramatically. This will make environmental engineers happy and result in less pollution of our nature. Apart from this, the exhaust tubes remain clean which reduces the maintenance of air ovens. This paper will give more detailed information of catalyst systems during development and performance in production lines.

The Use of an Available Color Sensor for Burn-In of LED Products

Technical Library | 2015-06-18 12:42:57.0

In the recent past, the Light Emitting Diode (LED) was hailed as the new energy efficient light source that would never have to be replaced. There were claims of 50,000+ hrs lifetime for the humble LED. That story has changed over the last few years as the number and diversity of the LED based products has increased. This is not to say that the original evidence was incorrect, but the initial enthusiastic estimates from the labs did not match the ultimate test, customers. As a result of poor quality products affecting the overall opinion of LED based products, it is critical that manufacturers can be confident in the quality of their product. In current times we want to have products certified, checked and ensure that we have the best quality. For the purposes of this paper we will look at one aspect of LED product, and this is the Lumen maintenance and estimated lifetime. The method described here does not seek to replace using high quality rating labs, but hopefully will allow the manufacturer to know with confidence that their prototype product, upon going to certification labs will be of a high enough quality that no expensive re-designs are required.

IPC-1782 Standard for Traceability Supporting Counterfeit Components

Technical Library | 2018-01-04 11:05:34.0

Traceability has grown from being a specialized need for certain safety critical segments of the industry, to now being a recognized value-add tool for the industry as a whole. The perception of traceability data collection however persists as being a burden that may provide value only when the most rare and disastrous of events take place. Disparate standards have evolved in the industry, mainly dictated by large OEM companies in the market create confusion, as a multitude of requirements and definitions proliferate. The intent of the IPC-1782 project is to bring the whole principle and perception of traceability up to date. Traceability, as defined in this standard will represent the most effective quality tool available, becoming an intrinsic part of best practice operations, with the encouragement of automated data collection from existing manufacturing systems, integrating quality, reliability, predictive (routine, preventative, and corrective) maintenance, throughput, manufacturing, engineering and supply-chain data, reducing cost of ownership as well as ensuring timeliness and accuracy all the way from a finished product back through to the initial materials and granular attributes about the processes along the way.

An Investigation into Lead-Free Low Silver Cored Solder Wire for Electronics Manufacturing Applications

Technical Library | 2019-01-09 19:19:52.0

The electronics industry has widely adopted Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu solder alloys for lead-free reflow soldering applications and tin-copper based alloys for wave soldering applications. In automated soldering or rework operations, users may work with Sn-Ag-Cu or Sn-Cu based alloys. One of the challenges with these types of lead-free alloys for automated / hand soldering operations, is that the life of the soldering iron tips will shorten drastically using lead-free solders with an increased cost of soldering iron tool maintenance/ tip replacement. Development was done on a new lead-free low silver solder rework alloy (Sn-0.3Ag-0.7Cu-0.04Co) in comparison with a number of alternative lead-free alloys including Sn-0.3Ag-0.7Cu, Sn-0.7Cu and Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu and tin-lead Sn40Pb solder in soldering evaluations.

Causes and Costs of No Fault Found Events

Technical Library | 2016-04-14 13:49:44.0

A system level test, usually built-in test (BIT), determines that one or more subsystems are faulty. These subsystems sent to the depot or factory repair facility, called units under test (UUTs) often pass that test, an event we call No-Fault-Found (NFF). With more-and more electronics monitored by BIT, it is more likely that an intermittent glitch will trigger a call for a maintenance action resulting in NFF. NFFs are often confused with false alarm (FA), cannot duplicate (CNDs)or retest OK (RTOK) events. NFFs at the depot are caused by FAs, CNDs, RTOKs as well as a number of other complications. Attempting to repair NFF scan waste precious resources, compromise confidence in the product, create customer dissatisfaction, and the repair quality remains a mystery. The problem is compounded by previous work showing that most failure indications calling for repair action at the system level are invalid. NFFs can be caused by real failures or may be a result of system level false alarms. Understanding the cause of the problem may help us distinguish between units under test (UUTs) that we can repair and those that we cannot. In calculating the true cost of repair we must account for wasted effort in attempting to repair unrepairable UUTs.This paper will shed some light on this trade-off. Finally, we will explore approaches for dealing with the NFF issue in a cost effective manner.

How to extend the lifespan of climatic test chamber?

Technical Library | 2019-05-06 23:13:09.0

Temperature and humidity test chamber has brought a lot of help to many industrial enterprises, but while it brings convenience to us, we should also take good care of them, otherwise they may be brought into the end-of-life phase ahead of time. The way of maintenance is also very simple. After daily use, the equipment is cleaned regularly, but the cleaning of the test chamber is also very skillful. If the operation is wrong, it may also lead to equipment failure. Let‘s learn how to extend the service life of the temperature and humidity test box together. 1, Pls clean the working room with water after each use, then dry the interior with dry cotton cloth. 2, Pls regularly remove dust from the evaporator inside the equipment, and periodically wipe the equipment to ensure clean and tidy. 3, When doing the test, the sample should be uniformly placed onto sample shelves, and the vent should not be blocked to prevent the influence of the test 4, It is necessary to pay attention to the cleaning of water tanks in peacetime, after the test or when the equipment is not intended to be used for a long time, all the water in the tank should be discharged, otherwise it will lead to the formation of scale inside the tank. The water used in the temperature and humidity test chamber must be pure or distilled water, or long-term use may result in a humidifier or internal pipe clogging. Above are the usual use notice of temperature and humidity test chamber, if customer adhere to the above several points,it is really able to prolong the service life of the equipment.

Why salt spray chamber fail to spray salt mist?

Technical Library | 2019-11-20 22:44:25.0

Salt spray test chamber is used to test teh salt corrosion resistance ability of hardware, metal and other auto parts, the chamber can quickly detect the corrosion resistance degree of products in the temperature, humidity and salt spraying environment, which can effectively improve production efficiency. So what is the reason why such a salt spray test chamber does not spray? As per our past maintenance experience, there are below reasons, customers can have a look, hope it is helpful: 1, the spray tower is blocked; 2, water pipes clogged, water flow can not go in; 3, the air compressor stops running, pls open the air compressor button; 4, main switch of the air compressor outlet is not turned on,pls turn on. 5, the solenoid valve fails, the pressure meter is broken or the pressure is too low, pls check with Climatest and repair it. 6, when the nozzle is clogged, the nozzle should be carefully removed and cleaned, because it is fragile. 7, if the spray pressure is normal, the position of the nozzle glass is also correct, but what is the reason for not spraying? In this case, it is necessary to carefully observe whether there is dirt at the contact surface of the nozzle. If so, clean up the dirt and the spray can be carried out normally. That‘s all we‘re going to talk about today. If you have any questions, follow us on facebook, Please feel free to ask us questions.

What causes temperature humidity chamber to alarm?

Technical Library | 2019-12-12 02:43:44.0

Today we discuss the reason that causes temperature humidity chamber to alarm,In most cases, the equipment alarm is caused by the improper operation in the process of use, which mainly includes following reasons:that are refrigeration system, temperature system and circulating system. First, Refrigeration system 1, refrigeration compressor overpressure alarm. If the refrigerant pressure exceeds the set value, it will stop and alarm at the same time. At this time, the fault must be eliminated and then manually reset. 2, short phase power supply, phase sequence alarm. When the external power supply of the equipment is out of phase or the phase sequence is changed, it will stop and alarm at the same time. 3. The circulating cooling water is short of water to alarm. When the water pressure of the cooling circulating water system is insufficient, it will stop and alarm at the same time, and it must wait for the fault to be eliminated and reset at the same time before it could run normally. 4, refrigeration compressor overheating alarm. When the coil of the compressor is overheated and the power supply of the line is not normal, it will stop and alarm at the same time. Second, Temperature system 1, the overtemperature alarm in the chamber. The sensors in the channel and the sample area are equipped with overtemperature protection devices, and there are also overtemperature protecter on the control panel. When the temperature in the working chamber exceeds the setting value on the controller, it will stop and alarm. 2. sample overtemperature protection. When the temperature in the sample area exceeds the protection temperature set by the controller, it will stop and alarm at the same time. The overtemperature protection of the sample is divided into upper limit protection and lower limit protection, which can be set according to the demand, Third,Circulating system 1. The alarm is caused by the overheating of the circulating fan. When the coil of the fan is over-heated, the alarm will be stopped at the same time. 2. The fan over-current alarm. When the current of the fan exceeds the allowable value, the alarm is stopped at the same time, and the normal operation can only be carried out after the fault maintenance of the overcurrent is completed. This is what we talk about today,if you have more questions, let us know.
